BECA Professor Dr. Dina Ibrahim Featured in Mother Jones Article on Israel-Palestine Media Literacy

Mother Jones interviewed BECA Professor Dr. Dina Ibrahim for their article about navigating news coverage of Israel’s war in Gaza.

Prior to coming to San Francisco State University, Dr. Ibrahim reported and produced news stories across Egypt, United Arab Emirates, the U.K., and the U.S. Her research explores portrayals of the Middle East in American news sources.

In the interview with Mother Jones, Dr. Ibrahim addressed the ways in which the war is being covered, including misinformation, bias, and the role of social media.

Dr. Ibrahim advocates for individuals to get their news from a variety of sources to help combat bias and misinformation saying, “The only way to remain fully informed is to really take the time to understand all perspectives and use that to come to your own independent conclusion.”
