BECA faculty, BECA alumni, and BECA students all had a hand in creating the new open-source book.

The Video Production Handbook provides a practical approach to creating video, from concept to final product.

BECA professor Dr. Christopher Clemens authored chapters 7 through 10, focusing on camera functions, video aesthetics, lighting, and sound. While BECA professor Misha Antonich wrote chapter 16 which details the final edits necessary to finish a video.

BECA alum Jen Vaughn, who currently serves as a department chair and professor at Los Angeles City College, drafted the chapters on development, releases, and scripting. While Steve Shlisky, a BECA alum and current professor at Laney College, was responsible for the chapters on production preparation, funding, and set etiquette.

Also helping on the project were BECA students Shelley Ho and Sebastian Jimenez who took pictures and recorded gifs to support chapters 7 through 10. If you look through these pages, you might even spot some familiar faces and locations.

The handbook is open-source and available online via LibreTexts: https://human.libretexts.org/Bookshelves/Theater_and_Film/Video_Production_Handbook
