BECA Students Featured as Contestants and Audience Members on Television Shows
Forget Spring Break at the beach! Twenty media students headed to Los Angeles to get a jumpstart on their careers. Their week was spent attending television show tapings and taking meetings with leading professionals.
Included in their itinerary was The Price is Right, The Jennifer Hudson Show, and America’s Got Talent along with a visit to Sony Studios, Canvas Worldwide (a media agency), the NFL Network, and chats with several top-level producers.
Associate BECA Professor Miriam Smith said she began the LA Seminar twenty years ago to immerse students in the industry. “This year,” she said, “was almost magical. One student can be seen competing on The Price is Right when that episode airs on May 21. Another student was called on to ask a guest a question on an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show and then allowed to visit the show’s control room while you will see a brief shot of students dancing during a break in a different episode of the show. Our students are even in the audience shots of America’s Got Talent.”
Watch The Jennifer Hudson Show on April 30, where Yesi Munoz asks a question, the Price is Right, featuring Amylah Charles as a contestant, on May 21, and episodes of America’s Got Talent begin airing on May 28.
