Career Talk with Media Industry Professionals: Let’s Get Your Foot In the Door.
Overview
BECA 576 will have a career preparation talk with three media industry professionals on November 1 (Monday) at 4:10 p.m. The panel will talk about how they built their careers in the media industry and share insights into how to get into writing/producing, social media marketing, and television programming.

Guest Speakers
Steve Roth is currently a Writer/Producer at Food Network and streamer Discovery+, where he leads brand creative campaigns for shows like Amy Schumer Learns to Cook, Well Done with Sebastian Maniscalco, and Chopped. As a Senior Producer in Creative Marketing, Steve brings 15 years of video, print, and post-production expertise including copywriting, motion graphics and project management. Steve began his career as an NBC Page in NYC which led to various Live Production roles encompassing two Olympic Games and Saturday Night Live. Steve earned a M.A. in Television & Film from the S.I. Newhouse School at Syracuse University and a B.A. in Mass Communications from Oswego State University.
Taylor Gomez is a social media manager at HipHopDX. She has been working in the digital/social media space specifically within the music industry for a little over 5 years. She started working for iHeartMedia in the San Francisco/Bay Area in 2016. She currently manages the social media department for HipHopDX.com. The online publication is a Warner Music Group affiliate that reaches upwards of 3-5M users weekly. Their social reach is: Facebook 1.5M, TikTok 2M, Twitter 720k, Instagram 600k. She is a BECA alum.
Angelo Hernandez is the manager for program planning and scheduling at ViacomCBS. He works under the MTV Entertainment Group and is based in Nashville, Tennessee. He’s been with the company for five years where he started as a coordinator. Prior to joining ViacomCBS, he was an intern at POP TV in New York City and The CW Network in Burbank. Angelo was born and raised in the Philippines. There he worked as a news producer at broadcast giant GMA Network for four years before moving to the US. His news team has a won a Peabody Award in 2013 for their coverage super typhoon Haiyan. Last year, he released a YouTube comedy web series called Trying Hard. He has a master’s degree in television management from Drexel University.
