Biography

Scott brings over 30 years of experience in electronic media higher education and industry experience as a recording engineer and producer for WGBH and NPR.  I’ve released over 100 recordings of performers that range from B.B. King to the Tokyo String Quartet to the Seldom Scene to the U.S. Marine Corps Band.  My writing has appeared in many electronic media journals and in several books.  My research interests are at the intersection of the markets, technologies and policies of interactive media.  I am writing this semester about how “live” is used as an aesthetic variable in telling stories through the electronic media.  I am thrilled to be teaching my two favorite courses in the BECA Department – BECA Research Methods (the GWAR course) & Live Music Recording (BECA 510).  I currently serve on the Ballot Simplification Committee for the City and County of San Francisco where I am responsible for writing the “a yes vote means” and “a no vote means” ballot digests for all the San Francisco initiatives on the ballot.  Be sure to vote!
