Biography

Marie Drennan teaches courses in scriptwriting for radio and television, writing for interactive and new media, and analysis of the social impact of new media/social media technologies.

Marie Drennan holds an M.A. in Radio and Television, an M.A. in English: Creative Writing, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing, all from San Francisco State University.

Beginning as a lecturer in the Broadcast & Electronic Communication Arts Department in 2001, and joining the BECA faculty in 2007 as an assistant professor, she teaches courses in scriptwriting for radio and television, writing for interactive and new media, and analysis of the social impact of new media/social media technologies.

Areas of interest include the intersection of electronic media, new media, social media and literature; the free culture/participatory culture movement; and radical media critique.

Her textbook, Scriptwriting 2.0: Writing for the Digital Age is available through Holcomb Hathaway, Publishers.
