Professor Piryaei Wins Paul Sherwin Award

Congratulations to Professor Shabnam Piryaei who won a Paul Sherwin award to support work on the social justice documentary Walter. The social media documentary is about Walter Cruz-Zavala, a Salvadoran immigrant illegally detained in ICE custody for over three years. The video will be launched during a live virtual event in partnership with the Alameda County Public Defender’s Immigration Representation Project and distributed online through social media.
