Meet Paromita Sengupta - BECA's New Professor

Paromita Sengupta: Paromita has an interdisciplinary background in English, Media Studies, and Communication. She graduated with a PhD in Communication from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California in 2020. Her research and teaching focus on the intersection between digital media, popular culture, humor, and civic engagement, and she works with activist organizations both in the US and India to create multimedia projects to increase social consciousness and media literacy. Her style of teaching combines theory with contemporary media and case-studies to promote critical thinking about society and systems of power.

 

This coming Fall she will be teaching BECA 321: Critical Study of Popular Culture and BECA 390: Age of Information.
