Joel Wanek is a filmmaker and video journalist based in Oakland. His films have been shown internationally in festivals such as Doclisboa, International Film Festival Rotterdam, BFI London Film Festival, European Media Art Festival, and Images Festival, among others. As a journalist he has created work for AJ+, The New York Times, PBS NewsHour, KQED, and Facebook. He holds an MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University and a BA in Media Communications from Webster University.
