In Memorium: Scott Singer

SF State Alum Scott Singer ('83) passed away suddenly on October 28th, 2009. He was a four-time Emmy Award-Winning Composer/Producer/Performer/Writer & Director. Most recently, Scott was the Technical Musical Director and Assistant Director for the High-Definition DVD live recordings of Boz Scaggs Jazz Album and Greatest Hits, and the HD simulcast of the San Francisco Opera Rigoletto. He also sat on the Board of Governors at NARAS- The National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. His studio, Singer Productions, has been in operation for 24 years. Scott's production company hosted many BECA interns over the years and those students brought Scott's energy and style back to their classrooms.

Scott loved to give back to the BECA community. Despite his busy schedule, he was always happy to give of his time and share his expertise with our students.

His family has released the following statement:
"[W]e saw first hand Scott's enormous vitality for living and the joy with which he approached each day. We know that Scott would sincerely wish good health, good fortune, and his deepest love to each of you. Give your loved ones a hug today - Scott would have wanted you to do so."
