Do You Live Here? (2021) paints the portrait of Jean Jones, a writer, mother and survivor who lives in Point Reyes Station.

Throughout her life, Jean has worn many hats but in recent years all that experience was eclipse by cancer diagnosis and a stint of homelessness. This film attempts to celebrate the life of this unique and charismatic local gem while adding to the greater dialogues of housing and space in the Bay Area and Marin county. The black disabled experience is seldom brought up when considering West Marin. By framing a heavily filmed, iconic landscape behind an othered often unseen individual, we begin to transform it entirely.

The short was produced by BECA student Alexander Whittlesey film produced under the guidance of Professor Hongo for the Graduate Seminar in Documentary Film. Alexander will represent SF State at the CSU-wide competition in April.
