BECA Advisory Board Member Ron Longinotti and KPIX arranged the donation of a NEVE 55 Audio Console to the BECA Program. The department plans to make this classic Neve console the basis of a complete remodel of Studio 43 - the BECA recording studio and Studio 42 the BECA Sound Design Laboratory. The BECA Department invites all interested students to attend a Transfer Student Advising and BECA Orientation session tomorrow, July 9, 2008. The session will take place from 1 until 2 PM in Television Studio I (CA 128). Topics to be covered include: Course Transferability, the BECA Roadmap, Finding and Contacting a Faculty Adviser, and Technology Recommendations. The advising session will be led by BECA Department Chair Scott Patterson.

Completed August 15, 2008 degree applications that have been signed by a BECA faculty adviser must be turned into the BECA Office (CA 133) by Wednesday, July 9 by 2 pm for the Department Chair's signature. All graduation applications must be turned into One Stop by Friday, July 11, 2008.

Just after midnight on Monday morning, the BECA 580 - Media and Community Service - students landed at SFO after nearly a month in Guatemala. The students spent two days at the Mayan ruins in Tikal, climbing the structures and viewing the flora and fauna in the lush rainforest that covered Tikal for a thousand years, until the middle of the 19th century, when it was "discovered" again. Then after an overnight stay in gritty Guatemala City, they flew home, nursing their mosquito bites and sunburns. This morning, the group turned in their equipment to the BECA Cage.
