Pennington and Bastida enter Hall of Fame

BECA Alumni Ken Bastida (1981) and Carla Pennington (1985) were inducted into the San Francisco State University Alumni Hall of Fame. The induction happened Friday evening in a ceremony hosted by BECA Alumnus and hall of fame member, Ben Fong-Torres. Carla and Ken join 7 other BECA majors in the 65 member hall of fame.

Yes, the BECA Department does hold its own 2008 Graduate Recognition Event on May 24 at 9 am at Lowell High School Football Field. Grads are to Check-in at 8:30 am. Lowell Football Field is located at Lake Merced Blvd and Winston Drive. Entrance to Lowell Parking lot is adjacent to Lot 25 on Winston Dr.

BECA Class in Guatemala

Students in BECA 580 - Media and Community Service are preparing to depart for Guatemala on June 3rd. The students will produce a video for Trama Textiles, a women's weaving collective in Quetzaltenango in the Guatemalan highlands. The nine students have been preparing for the trip during the Spring 2008 Semester by hearing a series of guest speakers talk about different aspects of the country and, simultaneously, producing a video for the San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC).

The history of the SFSU BECA Department's television Studio One (CA-128) includes its use for production of at least two major Hollywood feature films, THX 1138 (1971) and The Candidate (1972).
