Yes, the BECA Department does hold its own 2008 Graduate Recognition Event on May 24 at 9 am at Lowell High School Football Field. Grads are to Check-in at 8:30 am. Lowell Football Field is located at Lake Merced Blvd and Winston Drive. Entrance to Lowell Parking lot is adjacent to Lot 25 on Winston Dr.

The BECA Office will be open from 10 am - 2 pm Monday - Thursday and 9- noon Fridays for the Summer sessions beginning May 27, 2008.

Students in BECA 580 - Media and Community Service are preparing to depart for Guatemala on June 3rd. The students will produce a video for Trama Textiles, a women's weaving collective in Quetzaltenango in the Guatemalan highlands. The nine students have been preparing for the trip during the Spring 2008 Semester by hearing a series of guest speakers talk about different aspects of the country and, simultaneously, producing a video for the San Francisco Conservation Corps (SFCC).

BECA Alumnae Pam Diaz won not just one but 3 Northern California Emmy awards on Saturday from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Pam currently works at Univision 19 in Sacramento.

The BECA faculty selected Stephanie Rosa, Sarah Papp, Terra Fernandez, Bill Wickley, Fenecia Garner, Abtin Forghani, Lorena Zuluaga, Meng Zhang, Justin LaneLutter, Kristen Mueller, Justin Pitman, Daniel Martinez, and John Rally for special recognition and bestowed these awards and scholarships at the year end BECA Bash on Friday, May 9.
