Presented by the National Chapter of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences- Schmoozarama is a Bay Area Media Networking event being held on Saturday, February 9th at USF Fromm Hall from 10:00 am-4:30 pm. Some organizations that will most likely attend are AWRT-Association of Women in RAdio & TV, DGA-Directors Guild of America, SAG/AFTRA, FAF-Film ARts Foundation, Bay Area Black Journalists Association, ASian American Journalists Association and many more.

BECA student awarded Community Service Learning Student Award

Congratulations to Josephina Antonia Maria Perez on the honor of being selected to receive the Community Service Learning Student Award for 07-08. Josie was nominated by Dr. Hamid Khani. Josie has contributed to the community in various ways including through BECA 647, Community Service Learning, where she worked on the Valencia Health Services media campaign.

Graduation Applications for Spring 2008

BECA graduation applications are due to the department office CA 133, for the chair's signature, no later than February 12th. Completed applications are due to the registrar no later than February 15th.

Students graduating this semester should pick up the BECA graduation application instructions in the BECA office and see their faculty advisor. Faculty advisor office hours are available on the link to the left.

BECA Graduate Students awarded Oakie Scholarships

Congratulations to BECA graduate students Adam Greenfield and Vidyut Latay!!! They were awarded an Oakie Scholarship in the amount of $3,000 each. Adam and Vidyut are among 7 creative arts recipients and 27 applicants from 5 departments, to receive the Oakie Scholarship. Congratulations to all of the Creative Arts students awarded.

Apparently the MPAA has been using dodgy statistics to point the finger at college students as the worst offenders in the piracy/illegal downloading crime wave. The 2005 study was used to pressure college campuses into "securing" their networks and supporting legislation of further restrictions.

MA in Radio & Television Application Deadline

The deadline for application for admissions to the MA in Radio & Television program is MARCH 1st. An application should be sent to the University (see Graduates studies for more info) and the BECA department, please use the BECA department Graduate application(below).
