BECA student awarded Community Service Learning Student Award
Congratulations to Josephina Antonia Maria Perez on the honor of being selected to receive the Community Service Learning Student Award for 07-08. Josie was nominated by Dr. Hamid Khani. Josie has contributed to the community in various ways including through BECA 647, Community Service Learning, where she worked on the Valencia Health Services media campaign. Also, in BECA 580, Media in Community Service, Josie traveled to Thailand with her classmates to produce a series of Public Service Announcements for a non-profit organization called Action-Aid. She has also been working with KPIX channel 5's Wendy Tokuda on her Emmy nominated series "Students Rising Above" which profiles low-income, at risk bay area students.
